The Temple of Guruvaruppa, Kerala, to allow 5,000 devotees per day as the restrictions were relaxed. Earlier, the temple used to allow 3,000 devotees per day, now they are going to increase online darshanam bookings to 5,000 under the supervision of the district collector.
Along with that, as part of the temple ritual, the devaswom decided to observe Anayottam, Pallivetta, Ezhunellippu during Arattu with three elephants.
The Temple of Guruvayurappa has a profound history dates back to Naga period where the sanctum sanctorum was built by King Janmejaya after being healed in this place. The temple has undergone the raids of invaders, in 7th century, the Duch set fire to the temple and took away many treasures, and later rebuilt by Travancore kings, however Tippu Sulthan tried to destroy this temple by setting the fire, but a huge rain miraculously put the fire away.
